National Cancer Survivor Month

June is National Cancer Survivor Month, and National Cancer Survivor day was on June 6th. In June, we celebrate those who have survived, gather support for families, and reach out to the community. In 2021, roughly 1.9 million people will be diagnosed with cancer, and an estimated 608,570 people will die of cancer in the United States. The top 5 cancers diagnosed in the United States are breast, prostate, lung and bronchus, colon and rectum, and melanoma of the skin.

Many websites are available to connect survivors, patients, family members, and friends. At CancerCare, counseling, case management, financial assistance, support groups, and community programs are available for patients and survivors.

Cuisine for Healing helps patients and survivors by promoting healthy foods during their fight and recovery. Check our website to see the latest on our upcoming event Survivors in Style that honors 15 models (male & female of all ages) who are all survivors of a life-threatening disease.

Below are a few ways we can support cancer survivors:

  • Raise awareness by posting on social media in support of cancer survivor month
  • Share a personal story on your fight, family members fight, or a friend
  • Learn more about survivorship
  • Donate to lifesaving cancer research
  • Join the American Association for Cancer Research advocacy community
